Obedience Training |
We
offer obedience training for all breeds of dogs at
all levels and needs. Our training methods focus on
teaching you how to help your dog understand what
your expectations are without added confusion or
frustration. Some of the things we teach
include tone of voice, posture, timing of praise and
corrections, how to properly give a correction,
repetition, and how to keep things fun for you and
your dog.
Our philosophy is one that focuses on keeping the
relationship between you and your dog a positive one
in order to build trust and respect. Without a
solid foundation, you will accomplish nothing with
your dog.
Some
of our classes include:
-
Puppy
Manners -
This is a
great start for young pups. You will be taught
the proper way to housebreak your pet, how to
correct chewing problems, adjusting puppy
behavior, and approaching and handling your
puppy. Your puppy will learn how to be confident
and enjoy working with you.
-
Basic
Obedience - One-on-one
training with you and your dog allows for a
personalized training schedule. The primary
goals are to learn how to walk comfortably on a
leash, sit, stay, down, come and basic
manners. You will learn how to use your
voice, posture, timing of praise and corrections
and how to effectively give a correction.
We work with you and your dog individually so
that you know how to troubleshoot problems as
they come along every day. Your dog will learn
to enjoy working with you because our methods
focus on praise that comes directly from you and
not food or treats. This type of training builds
reliable trust and respect and will keep you and
your dog happy partners for years.
-
Advanced
Obedience - Small sized classes offer
individualized attention for dogs and handlers.
The course focuses on socialization, advanced
sit, stay and heeling with off-leash aspects.
-
Specialized training - AKC obedience
competitions, tracking/search techniques,
agility, and even home invasion. Please contact
us to discuss your specific needs and we can
determine a training program that is designed to
fit your needs.
Contact us via e-mail
or phone if you are interested in obedience
training or have questions regarding training your

AKC Canine Good Citizen
Certification |
-
The CGC
was started in 1989 and was designed to reward
dogs that have good manners not only at home,
but also in public. The certification
stresses responsible pet ownership and good dog
manners. It is a 10-step test that must be
assessed by an AKC certified evaluator. If
passed, you and your dog will receive a
certificate of completion from the American
Kennel Club.
-
The CGC
certification is often the first step many dog
owners take in training their dog. It is
especially important for dogs and owners that
are anticipating going into therapy or service
training.

Therapy Dog and Assistance Dog
Training

We
are proud to say that we trained the first
assistance dog for the Southern Tier Epilepsy
Society of Southern New York. View the
billboard of Hope and
Sean for the Epilepsy Awareness
Campaign. Hope is an assistance dog for
a young boy that has epilepsy as well as autism.
She is still in the earlier stages of her
training, but has been a huge help to her
family. She offers comfort and reassurance
for Sean during and after his seizures as well
as a constant companion.
-
We
are currently working on obtaining an
affiliation with Bright and Beautiful Therapy
Dog Organization. In the near future, we
are planning on becoming evaluators for the
program to evaluate new dogs for the program.
-
Dogs can be trained for therapy work in various
situations from hospitals, nursing homes, senior
care facilities, assisted care facilities for
mentally and physically challenged individuals,
children's program such as Paws for Reading, and
much more

Contact us via e-mail or phone if you are
interested in obtaining or training one of your
existing dogs for therapy or assistance work.

Brian and Jennifer have an extensive background
in Animal Nutrition from Cornell University.
In addition, Brian conducted nutrition research
on working sled dogs while at Cornell helping to
develop an ideal diet for highly active dogs.
-
All of our dogs are fed Martin's. They all
maintain the perfect weight while still showing
no signs of dry, flaky skin or a dull coat.
Our black lab has an amazingly shiny coat that
is as soft as a puppy's fur.
-
The price of one 55 lb. bag of Martin's is
cheaper per pound than most higher quality dog
foods found in the stores. When you feed a
high quality food, your dog can use more of the
nutrients in the food, allowing you to feed (and
waste) less food.
-
E-mail or call us today for more information
or a sample.

Visit
Martin's K9 Formula Website for more
information about the food and the company.
Martin's is made with the highest quality
ingredients. We have been assured that the
ingredients do not contain the products that were
recently involved with the pet food industry scare
that caused many deaths in pets. Please
contact us if you have any other concerns. We
can assure you that we feed this food to our own
dogs and would not continue if we were not
comfortable with its quality or safety. |
