Trek was the
first lab that we bought. He started out just doing
basic obedience and agility until we realized his
ability to detect scents and follow a track. So, we
started doing some tracking work with him and getting
more serious about doing search work. Unfortunately,
there aren't any search and rescue clubs close enough to
our area that we can work with regularly. Since his
training, we have been working on our own putting on
demos and trying to establish a local club of our own.
Trek was one of our most active and athletic dogs we
have ever owned up until the summer of 2006 when he was
injured during a demonstration at school.
Read below for the story of Trek's miraculous recovery.
To this day, we can't believe that he is still running
around the yard with the pups having fun. He also still loves to hunt down a
track. He is not only a solid working dog, but has
been an irreplaceable companion for us as well as our
children.
